Complete front end kit? Best one.

I'm looking to rebuild my frontend on my 86 T/A--need just about everything--idler arm drag link, ball joints, tie rod ends etc-does anyone know the best(cheapest)most complete kit out there? I'm not really worried about bushings right now(that's later).
And do you guys think it's possible to do the idler arm in my driveway? I know I'd have to rent a puller. My other f-body needed it cut off. Thanks for any info.

I just had the front end done on my RS, I opted for the PSC front end rebuild kit, it came with everything that you mentioned plus the bushings. Make sure that you tell them the size of your front sway bar cause they sent me the wrong size, I have 34 mm and they sent me a 32 mm front sway bar bushings.

What did you pay for it? Also--how can you tell what size swaybar you have? I know you can use a tape measure--but it would be in inches.
Thanks for the response.

I paid $259 for the front end rebuild kit + $65.95 for the center link that was not included in the kit. Go to www.performancesuspension.com for more info. You might want to verify the prices also cause I think that they went up since I bought mine a couple of months ago. As for the sway bar size, I think that they came in 32mm, 34mm & 36mm, I would try a metric open end wrench to measure.

Third Gen Resource has a front end rebuild kit for $200. It includes:

1-CENTERLINK
1-idler arm
2-outer tie rods
2-inner tie rods
2-TIE ROD SLEEVES
2-lower ball joints( Camaro's don't have uppers)

All you are missing from the other kit is swaybar bushings and control arm bushings, but you don't get the center link or tie rod sleeves. I think this is a cheaper route. Sway bar bushings from Energy Suspensions cost probably $30. Then with the money you save, get some Delrin control arm bushings from Global West. These are great for street/ race use(alot better than poly or rubber).

The PSt kits also include A arm bushings, a muct replace item on the front end, and all of their bushings in the perforance front end kits are poly-graphite bushings.

Yes they do include A-arm bushings this is what I said (control arm bushings)
You are also paying $165 more for them without tie rod sleeves.

Again, for the money, you get $200 worth of parts + $30 on poly swaybar bushings + $110 for aluminum w/ delrin control arm bushings= $340+tax for better A-arm bushings & tierod sleeves

Vs.

$295 for PST kit ( with poly control arm bushings) + $65 for centerlink= $360 +tax & no tie rod sleeves

The PST kit is $159 and the PSC kit that I bought was $259, the PST kit did not have a couple of items that was included in the PSC kit. The bushings that came with the PSC kit are graphite impregnated polyurethane bushings.

Ok--so in all your opinions for the person on a budget(me)which kit would be the best to get-to start off with? The front end is REALLY bad.

I saw adjustable tie rod sleeves for $10 each--which isn't a big deal.

Price wise no big deal, But to the alignment mechanic who has to d*ck around with your old stipped & rusted ones it is a big deal.

Hello I'm in the same position here has to rebuild the front end

up to now I have colected some information from Summit

MOG-DS1049 CENTERLINK 82-92 F BODY $64.39
MOG-ES2032S SLEEVES ADJUSTABLE $21.98
MOG-ES2226RL OUTER TIE ROD ENDS $69.98
MOG-ES2227RL INNER TIE ROD ENDS $90.78
MOG-K6145T LWR BALL JOINT ENHANCED DESIGN $40.78
MOG-K6249 IDLER 82-92 CAMARO/FIREBIRD $54.69
Total $342.60 (No Shipping yet)
I would like the poly-graphite bushings as the mechanic that would do the job not recomend standard poly or rubber (noise and deflection)

the PST ones look great, It would be less expensive that this moog option (I dont have an idea of wich is better quality) moog say nascar this and that on its site, the ball joints look really high quality.

But maybe I will order the parts separatelly because if i keep my order bellow 100$ I dont pay a lot of taxes and dutys in my country.

check out www.p-s-t.com they sell polygraphite bushings. And they got a front end kit for the 3rd gen firebirds $159 but that dosent include inner tierods, sleves, drag link, idler arm. Everything else is there. If you were to order all those extra parts less sleves it'd add up to $315. and free shipping. I think thats a pretty darn good deal comparing to what i heard from u guys. I think these guys are a good compnay ive heard good things about them and their ad is on the back of almost every hot rod and car craft magazine.

What do u guys think ?

Drag link???

I dont know wich part is that, I think it would be the rod that conect the steering box to the center link, is this right? (It is the only stering part that I dont see related on the parts i mentioned)

Also I would need any tool like a "BALL JOINT SERVICE SET" and a COIL SPRING COMPRESSOR.

The bushing grease.

Two supports (Jackstands) wich weight?

Anything else?

You'll need an internal spring compressor , a balljoint and tierod seperator and a pair of 1 ton jackstands.

As it stands right now I'm trying to get a used setup from a board member. He said it's a standard pst kit that was used for about 5000 miles. I figured I'd get this for now so I can get the car on the road-and get the really good stuff later on.

I think PST sells 2 diffrent types of bushings, high performance and OEM like bushings.

And I dont know if its a good idea to reuse bushings like that, changing cars. But, I'm sure its fine to reuse the steering linkage parts.

Im planning to get everything I need for my front end rebuild from PST totaling $314 including the kit, draglink, idle arm, inner rods.

Well, good luck with your front end rebuild

Thanks for the luck Dan!! I thought the same thing about re-using stuff--but he's going to give me his lower a-arms w/the newer bushings and ball joints already installed.
And pst does sell 2 types of bushings--if I'm not mistaken they have the poly bushings--and I Think they can be greased--not sure on that tho.
