Ride Height Variations
Ride Height Variations
I have been wondering this question after parking next to another third gen camaro at my local speed shop. The newer camaro looked like an 89 seemed to sit a good 1.5" lower than mine. I figured it was probably lowered, and mine is till at the stock height. Yesterday I was at the supermarket and came across and 87 and it seemed to be the same height as the car i saw at the speed shop. So I decided to ask...Do the earlier cars sit heigher than the later years. I've seen other 83 and 84 cars and they seem to be about the same height as mine. I know there is a slight difference in height with Iroc springs, but 1.5"??? I also figured since my springs are stock and 19 years old, that they would be sagging and make my car seem lower than its supposed to. So is there that big of a difference in heights? I am also doing a front end rebuild in the next few weeks, and trying to decide on what springs to get. If this is the case, I would go with the sportline springs so achieve close to the same ride height that a newer car would acheive with the pro-kit.
Another interesting note is that another thirdgen.org member who lives close by measured his ground clearance for me and infromed me that he has about 4 inches or clearance. His car is a 91 with the stock 2.5 inch exhaust. I have a 3" hooker system on my car and have 5" of clearance.
