Rear disk rotor removal
How do you remove the rotor from a 9 bolt '88 posi rear? I already have the calipers off. The instructions from my Chiltons manual tells me to simply pull the rotors off from the axle. These things will not budge. I wanted to check in with you folks before taking a light sledge to it.
Thanks,
GC

The rotors are probably "frozen" to the axles by a little rust. Take a 2x4 and knock the hell out of it with a hammer and they should come loose enought to pull them off. During reinstallation, put some anti-sieze on the back of the rotor and the axle flange to keep this from happening again.

Unlike the front rotors, I can't see a center cap that would hold a greased nut to retain the rotor.
I'll pound some hell into it then back out again and see what happens.

Squirt a little WD-40 around the base of the wheel studs and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then LIGHLTY tap the rotors, preferably with a rubber mallot. They should come loose.
