my new KYB GR2's came in today and i got them in in an hour or so. well, basically im not too impressed with them. there is no noticeable performance gain. the kicker is that the car had factory original shocks that were real squishy. anyone had any experience with these? comments? i just wanted to vent.

That's why I took mine out and put in Bilstiens. KYBs are a good 'n cheap replacement shock.

Well I have a full set on my car I put on this summer (front struts, rear shocks), and I have to say they are great compared to the factory shocks. I installed them first and rode them out a couple of days before I put in the 2' lowering springs. I have to say that my experience was pretty dramatic, and the way they handle the lowering springs and keep the bouncing around to a minimum is great

how are your springs, have they been replaced? I had the KYB's installed w/ new springs, car rides much better than when it had the old stock worn out shocks, struts & springs.Originally posted by Nasty_Bird_'90

If you really want to feel a difference get the KYB AGX adjustables. I put them on all four corners of my TA and the handling difference is noticable. The ride is actually too harsh if the struts are set at anything above 1 or 2. I have the front set at 1 right now, and its pretty nice. 2 is nicer, but the ride rattles my car to pieces. I won't even try 3 or 4. The rears have 8 settings and 4 or 5 is just fine. For me< they are too expensive, i wish i got somehting cheaper, because I really don't need the adjustability. Now that I have them I guess I have to deal with em though!

I've got the AGX's on the front and I'm happy with them. I would agree that 3 and 4 would make the car ride like its got an airbag system. I keep it on 2 most of the time. Gas-a-Justs in the rear and they balance out just fine... maybe you've got something else in your suspension that needs to be looked at?
well i shouldnt say they're bad. they just arent as good as i had expected. i wanted the AGX's or a set of bilsteins, but they are both out of my current price range. maybe i should throw in a new set of springs. i did the no no of cutting mine. nothing wrong with it. just a temp. fix till i get some eibachs or something.

If you go look at KYB's website and read about their shocks, you'll see that the GR-2's are more for a softer ride and marginal handling, and the Gas-a-just's are geared towards better handling.
I don't know why so many people here still reccomend the GR-2's.
