Help, rear axle took entire weight of car on impact of collision!

Hey guys,
I was driving to Wendys to grab a bite to eat yesterday when I gave it gas in the rain and the limited slip mode took over when going up a hill. The car lunged toward a tractor trailer so I cut the wheel right and the back wheels lost grip and spun the car into the far lane's curb and the front of the car went up over the curb w/ no damage whatsoever other than an airdam, and the back rim slammed up against the curb so hard it cracked the edge of the rim and bent the axle, but not the whole rear assembly. No damage can be seen when the car is jacked up, the wheel wobbles a little, the spare tire that is. The rim is cooked, but what should I do about going to replace this passenger side rear axle? I have a 92 RS 3.1 Liter V6 Camaro auto w/ 3.23 limited slip drum axle(according to tech data found on this site). Also, can 5.0 92 RS rims fit on my camaro? They have 215/60/R 16 Tires on them. I dont want it to rub. Thanks guys.

You can replace the axle without too much trouble. Just get a good used one and swap it out. axles are the same for posi and non-posi cars, so don't even mention that when you go to get one, they'll just charge you extra because you came in there thinking you need something special. Just make sure they know it's a 92, so the axle needs to come from a 90 up; 88 back will not work for sure, and 89 might or might not have the same ones as your 92.

The 16" wheels will fit your car. There's no difference in the chassis between the 6-cyl cars and the V8 cars as far as wheel well size or anything like that.

if u hit that hard i would check to see if you didnt bend your panhard bar at all? also i would check to see if your lower control arms are ok? i dont think the shocks or torque arm would be affected because they can move around in bushings a bit.

I am not sure what kind of posi you have but be careful. If you drive too much, or you will fry it.

Replacing the axle is not too bad. Just make sure you pick up a 28 spline version. They are tough to find used, you best bet is to buy new. As said before make sure the LCA's and the PHB are not bent.

Yes the rims will fit with no rubbing.
