e-brake modifications or substitutes?

Is there any aftermarket rear brake systems or other options to get a simpler, smaller e-brake setup? Mine has never worked. I just rebuild the rear end and when taking the brakes off I found that everything was seized and rusted. My rear brakes work fine though. What are the options other than rebuild the stock system?

PonchoTA recently converted his old style rear disc brakes over to the more desirable '89-'92 style rear disc brakes.

It is a popular conversion.

You could also upgrade to the LS1 internal drum style, also called the Explorer type. They have a drum brake on the inside of the rotor. Cool setup.

I just put an '89 rear with the '89 brake setup in my '88 Iroc, probably the simplest to do. Works great.

Yes, the LS1 rotor e-brake is the hot ticket. It has a small internal drum brake that is used for the e-brake only.

do the 89-92 rear disks lock up if you pull the ebrake? cause I'd like to have rear disks again but if they dont lock up then I dont want them. And imma have to stick with drum brakes.

I haven't yanked on my brake hard enough to lock them up yet. I really don't think I need to. As long as they hold, which they do, they're fine.

I just found the LS1 brake setup online for $200 complete. Not too shabby IMO.

Thanks for the help fellas. I wasn't aware of the LS1 style differences. Sounds interesting.
