Largest wheel and tire combo
Largest wheel and tire combo
What is the largest wheel and tire combo that will fit a 3G with a 1.25 & 1.00 drop and 17's. I have 17x8's with 245/45 and 275/40's now and I'm sure I can go to at least a 10 in the rear. Who knows for sure?
I've read of people running 17x9.5 all around with 275/45/zr17 front and back with a 1" drop and no issues. I myself will be running 18x9.5 all around with 265/40/yr18 in front and 275/40/yr18 in the rear. Did alot of research and after much thinking I believe this to be the biggest I can go with 18's ... You could also go with 19's and 35 series tires ... it all depends on the total diameter of the wheel with the tire on it. As long as its the same as the stock full diameter you should be OK. I'm gonna be pushing it a little.
CH,
look into the bridgestone pole position so-3's. They have 285/30/18's. They are about a 1/2-3/4 taller then my 15" stock rims. The side wall is only a little more then an inch tall. something to look into... not to expensive either.

Woah Sweet!! Thanks for the tip. I got a nasty supprise for my Birthday today (yeah its Aug 7th woowoo!! heheh). Performance Wheel Outlet called me and said that the wheels I ordered won't fit on the front because they forgot the 18x9.5 didn't come in the +0 offset. Doh!! So he said I could use the 18's on the rear and 17x8.5's in the front but I just told him to cancel everything. Told him to update his website too.
So back to the drawing board for me .... Body Coddington here I come. They make wheels I want in the offsets I want at 18x9 in the front and 18x10 in the rear but they cost 1950 w/o shipping just for the wheels. Ouch!!. Gonna look into those tires ....

I got 9"x18"fronts and 10"x18"rears with Bridgestone SO1 265/40x18" all round.
These dont rub at all but the fronts look to wide and wonder a bit on uneven road surfaces.
Soon I will be fitting 245/45x18"on front and 275/40x18"rears.This will ensure that the fronts and rears stay the same overall diameter
cheers

Cool powermite, I saw pics of your car with the 18's. Looks really good bro!! Well I called Boyd today and it looks like I'm gonna keep the stock wheels untill I get the Evo II kit. After talking with the rep, turns out they do make custom width, backspacing, offset and everything. So I'm just gonna wait for the widebody Evo kit and get 18x9 in the front and 18x13.5 in the rear. Total cost will be around $3200 for the wheels alone (around $4100 with tires!!). Just makes more sense to me since that was my goal anyway ... now im not gonna waste money ona set of wheels in the meantime that wouldnt fit the properly with the kit. Good things come to those who wait!!
