I found that damn front end creak!!

Last year I rebuilt my front end, complete with poly-graphite bushings. When I was done, there was stilll some creaking noises when I stopped and turned, even though I replaced my ball joints and bushings.

I checked the strut tower mount and replaced it...still that same creaking/popping noises.

This weekend I was determined to find that @#*@ing noise. I put a wrench on every bolt that I could see... Then I saw it... The K-member (I think that's what it's called) It's the BIG support that the coil springs go into and the engine rests on (Someone correct me on the name if I'm wrong). Anyway There's some big bolts holding it to the frame (18 mm if I remember correctly)...I got about 1 turn on these bolts when I tightened them. There is also a small bracket welded to the K-member towards the back of the car, the weld had started to break, so I welded it back together. In total there were three bolts on each side (Passenger and driver) I put an impact on them....No more creaking noise...If I had a digital camera I'd post some pictures.
I took some film, but I haven't got them developed yet. Maybe next week

Yea, please post the pictures when developed. I'd like to see what you're talking about.

Did the sound you're talking about happen when you turned the wheel almost all the way on a turn?? Pictures.

Zoom in on the bolt inside the bracket. I noticed that there was a shiny ring around the bolt head, indicating movement.

Excellent, thanks for the pics. I'll have to check these bolts on my car.

Hey not a third gen question but my 98 Blazer's rear end squeaks a lot while hitting bumps, and when I make a right (maybe even left) turn (seemingly at any faster than 10 mph) it makes an awful sound like a spatula on a big iron skillet (coming from front left wheel area) any idea on what that is? Thanks.
