suspension swap???

Hi,

I just saved up a good amount of money for my '91 RS V6. Has T-tops. Thinking about buying the rear suspension package
( Lower control arms/panhard rod) and subframe connectors from Hotchkis. Is this worth it to swap the 11 year old original suspension to these? The car is in excellent shape, has nice glossy paint, solid clean undercarriage, good front end, decent tires ( 50% worn) BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Has about 75,000 miles on it. I just want some opinions. This car almost looks new!
Everything listed above will cost me about $600. I'm replacing the suspension myself, but I got to find a good welder for the connectors ( Which I might find from at my job).

P.S. I am planning on making a V8/trans. swap in the future. But like the "far" future than the "near". In 2-4 years.

Do it. New tubular stuff is waaayyyy better than the stockers, even in great condition. You could save a few bucks by boxing your LCAs and panhard rod and installing new poly bushings, that would free up more cash for SFCs if you needed it. I went with BMR rearend pieces and couldn't be happier. With T-tops, definitely get the SFCs. I don't have them yet but I need to. Still waiting for Spohn.

ebmiller88,

Hey, I did it!!! I went to the spohn performance website and
bought the lower control arms and the panhard rod. This was
way cheaper than buying from Hotchkis. It would have been
like $400 for Hotchkis rear suspension package ( includes
lower control arms and panhard rod). The ones I bought from
Spohn were the (upgrade!)chrome moly tubing on all parts with gloss black. I bought the standard ones (non-adjustable) cause I figured that I'm not doing any heavy racing with it, I don't need the adjustable ones. They all have greasable poly bushings too.
I also bought a poly trans. mount while I was looking around!
Total w/shipping was $280!!!!

I checked on those SFC's. They are not selling any right now.
I'm thinking of buying the Jegster bolt on ones from Jegs.com.
I will bolt them on myself, then have them welded by my local
speed shop.

Thanks for your opinion! Always helpful!

Congrats!! You made a great choice. I'm sure Hotchkis stuff is good, but I can't justify the price they ask for it. I would have went with Spohn parts but I got a great deal on my BMR stuff. I will hold out for Spohn SFCs, no doubt.

Enjoy!!
