whats is this part called ?
Can anyone tell me the technical name of a suspension part on my car ? It's the steel arm located above the panhard rod. mine was mysteriously bent and the bolts where so tight I broke them while trying to remove it. The car is a project now and it hasn't been drivin in 2 years. I was in the process of removing the gas tank and I couldn't get the tank around the arm so I cut it off.
Eventually I will need a replacement and I know I can get a high performance panhard rod but does anyone make an aftermarket replacement for the upper arm ? Or will I have to visit my local gm dealership for that ? Either way its been difficult for me to locate this part without knowing what it's called. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks guys

Its simply called the "parhard rod brace". Several of us have tried to locate an aftermarket one with no luck. I believe Tom Kiehler found one on a japanesse web site but noone could understand it. Aslo there is a previous post of a custom made one on a car, but noone knows who or were it was made.

Fer what it's worth, the GM service manual calls it a track bar brace. They also call the panhard rod a "track bar". The brace keeps the passenger side panhard rod bracket from breaking off, by tying it to the driver's side of the car... makes a triangle out of the whole thing. So if it's bent, it might not be as big of a deal as you think, but make sure the passenger side panhard rod mount isn't bent to the left or right.
I assume the bar could be remade at home with some steel tubing... it doesn't really affect the movement of the suspension, it's just there to strengthen that bracket so it doesn't move around (thereby moving the panhard rod around and throwing off the rear alignment).
