What the job of the panhard bar? To keep the axle centered?

the panhard bar on my 82 has a bend in it from when the car got dropped onto a jackstand directly under one end of the rod.

would this be a possible cause of my wheel hop probs?

what are the benifits or a stronger panhard?

yes a panhard bar keeps the rear end in alaignment. the benifets of a stronger bar (opposed to stock stamped steel) is a tighter rearend because aftermarket or tubular bars will not flex like the stamped predicessors, also polyurathane bushings do not allow the deflection rubber does therefor making everything stiffer and much more happy!
