new aluminum drums?

i own an 86' IROC with 112,000 miles on it (still runnin strong!), and just now need to replace the OE rear aluminum drums. the only replacements i can find are cast iron. for one reason or another, parts websites seem to ignore the fact that anyone has drum brakes on their 3rd gen....so to make a long story short, i cannot find new aluminum drums anywhere! if anyone knows where to get them, that would be a great help to me!

I believe rear aluminum drums are AC Delco part 177-372. As far as internet sites where you can check availibility, CarParts.com can special order them. Of course, I avoid CarParts.com like the plague since they merged with J.C. Whitney. You should be able to get new drums where you get other AC/D parts.

They probably are discontinued. I frequently deal with autoparts stores (Autozone, O'Reilly Autoparts, Pepboys, Carquest, etc.) and they all sell the cast iron only. Autozone used to be able to order the aluminum ones a while back but not anymore as far as I can tell.

the parts counter at the dealership (like they usually are when i ask for parts) was completely lost when i asked for aluminum drums, and unfortunatly, i had to buy them from Carparts.com....as much as i wanted to avoid J.C. whitney, as Jade said "like the plague", it seems it's my only option.

Rockauto.com has them for about $30 each.

The ones at Rockauto.com are cast-iron replacements not aluminum.
