Rear Shock Mount
Rear Shock Mount
Hi Everyone, I new around here, but this seems to be the place to get answers. The car I've got is a 1982 Trans Am, all stock. The problem I have is that the right rear shock has pulled through the upper mount. I ran a search, and it seems to be a common problem. My question is, how do you get to the mount to work on it? Is there an access from the inside of the car somewhere, or do you just have to be a contorsionst to get to it? I figured I'd make some washers out of 1/4" steel and weld them to the mount to reinforce it, if I can figure out how to get there. What to you guys think? Is this the best way to fix it or is there a better way? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Actually, if you put the rear seat down, and remove the carpet from under the back of the seat pulling it towards the rear of the car. The shock mounts should be covered with some insulation type material as the carpet exposes the top of the back deck.
Good Luck!
