new rotors/brakes worth it ?
new rotors/brakes worth it ?
I am in the middle of doing a brake job on my 84 Trans AM. I was going to get my front and rear rotors turned down. But the guy at the parts store said they all were no good, not turn downable.
So my options are getting new rotors and pads. I found front rotors for $26 each and rear for $33 each. Use the old rotors with new pads.
I've always wanted to upgrade to 1LE brake setup. But this is too expensive for me now
I was planning on buying Raybesto Brutestop pads, but i dont want to use those expensive pads on bad rotors.
I want good braking performance. Maybe I'll be happy with new stock rotors and good pads.
Do you guys recommend rebuilding the calipers ? and flushing the brake fluid ? Will this make a diffrence in brake performance ?
What should i do ?

Hell yea it will...
Do it right or don't do it at all - is what I say.
Get new seals for those calipers, clean it up real good, and replace those worn out probably warped rotors - you've got to give those new pads a nice home...
Replace all that old fluid with a good synthetic DOT 4 fluid.
You might however consider slotted rotor for a little extra cash. I'm sure a good set of cross drilled slotted rotors in the front will give those 1LE brakes a run for the money.
