Relocation bracket interference

I'm trying to install Spohn's relocation brackets on a stock 10 bolt with the PBR brake setup and I'm running into a bit of interference with the emergency brake cable setup. Here's some pics... anybody have this problem? I just emailed Steve.

Yup... looks real familiar...

I just cut that little corner off of the parking brake cable bracket, parallel to the surface of the LCA bracket. Doesn't take much, only ¼" or so. Now they fit fine.

Hmmm..one thing I'm wondering about the relocation bracket is...does it cause ground clearence problems? cause my car is dropped about 2.5" and the relocation bracket is like 3" lower isnt it?

They'll be sitting around the same height of the shock mounts which hang down a decent amount but like pokes said, they simply won't hit because they don't sit lower than your tires.

I have the Spohn boxed SFC's. Since they bolt to the LCA mounts will I be unable to get relocation brackets to fit?

The brackets go at the other end of the LCA, on the rear end.

Yup, I had the same problem. I think I posted some pics of what I had to do. If not, then I will repost them. A little grinding did the trick.

Also, I have a (huge) spring on the ebrake actuator arm AND one on the cable.. yours do not... interesting. I have found that you need to be a gorrila in order to appy the ebrake. Also, WTF is that disc looking thing for?

Have a look at pic #1. The part in question has what looks like a part number stamped on it.

I see that you also have the large spring on the actuator... does anyone know why there are 2 springs?

sorry to bring up an old topic. But from the looks of it...you bolt on the relocation bracket. ANd then weld it up after? is this correct?

You could do it that way...

I used an alternate method. First I stripped every single piece — bearings, seals, brakes, lines, etc. — off of and out of the housing, and liberally doused it with diesel fuel, and car-washed all the funk off of it; then I took the totally empty housing to a welding shop, and had them weld up the tubes, fix the leaky factory spot welds, sandblast it, and install the brackets with a piece of rod stuck through all 4 of the holes to guarantee that they would be exactly parallel to the tubes, and weld them in place; then I sent it to the powder-coating place. I don't think any bolting ever occurred.

The parking brake cable bracket had to be trimmed ever so slightly; and the welding shop took the initiative to add some further reinforcement to the brackets.

I'll see if I can get a pic.

I believe that the item you are refering to is a vibration damper that was added to the PBR calipers to fix a noise when the brakes are applied with the car in reverse. The early PBR calipers did not originally come with these. GM came out with a service bulletin instructing technicians to install the dampers to repair this problem. The dampers became standard equipment on the PBR calipers at some point (I don't know the exact year models). Maybe someone else here has more specific information.
