What's The Biggest E.t. Street/slick You Can Fit???

I've got an L-60 tire on my 82' Camaro right now which is 27.7"tall, has a 9.5" tread width and 10.6" sidewall width....This tire is on a 15x8 rim and fits fine.....I wanted to put a MT 28x12.50" E.T. Street on the car and was wondering if it would fit or am I going to have to roll the fendr lips and beat in the fenderwells What are some of the biggest tires everyone has fit on their cars with the stock wheel wells??

Nope!!! I was able to get a 28x11.5 on a 15x8 Weld 5.5 b/s, with no problem, anything taller or wider will require mod.

Damn, that wide of a slick on that narrow of a rim, don't your sidewalls really bulge out, also how low psi do you need to run to get a flat footprint? Obviously it works but usually you try to get a slick that is only an inch wider than your rim for a better stance/workablilty.

Gee everybody is so amazed about the 8" rim....We have put plenty of 28"x12.50 ET streets on my friends Mustangs and they fit, WITH AN 8" RIM, and off course rolling the fender lips and smashing in the fenderwells a lot.....On Camaro's like mine i've seen it done but when I ask how they fit it they say "Oh I paid someone to do it" or " I don't know I didn't build the car"....Oh and my friends who are running those tires on an 8" rim are running with about 9-10psi air in the tires

I am currently running a 28x11.5x15 Et Drag on a 10" rim with 5.5 b.s. It is a tight fit, but it looks great, and should do the trick as far as traction goes. Oh, my 12 bolt has been narowed 15/16" on each side, which tucks that tire under the car nicely.

blownbird,
you said your 12 bolt is narrowed 15/16in with a 10 in rim with 5.5 backspacing and running a 28x11.5 ET drag.

I have a ford 9in from moser that is narrowed 1in on each side and have been searching for a while for a similar setup to get ideas from. so with a 15x10 rim with 5.5 backspacing should be fine and you are running a 28x11.5 ET drag and that clears. I like that setup(I saw a picture of your car on another post and it looked tuff) only I would be looking for a ET street, do you know what ET street tire is comparable is size to a ET drag of your size.

By the way how much room did you have on the inside wheel well. I am no longer running the torque arm and spring setup and have gone to ladder bars and coil overs so I have a little more room with the factory spring mount on the body removed and smoothed over.

thanks, and good lookin machine!

The 28x12.5 et-street will fit nicely under the car. The 28x13.5 et-street will fit, but you have to remove the 3 "humps" on the inner fenderwell. I think the 28x12.5 looks great and would go with that. Good luck, and share some pics.
