Check Spohn's site for the 1LE upgrade kit - link is at the top.

Baer makes good kits similar to the 1LE upgrade and they work excellent for the money.

Alcon is in the brake business but I'm not sure if they have anything for our cars. Search for them though.

baer sells kits with the alcon calipers, but the price is 2k+ to step into a kit with alcons.

the other baer kits use a PBR caliper, like the 1le kit, but you can get them with a 13" rotor.

If you want a stock 1LE conversion, there is one on eBay right now. That is the same stuff that Spohn is selling. You never know, you may get it cheap. This ain't my auction, I just saw it earlier today. See it here.
Since I have Bell Tech lowering spindles, I'm going to go with the Baer Track system (13" rotors & PBR calipers.) It's about $1100, that's only $300 more than Spohn's 1LE and I'll be running 13" rotors.

1LE brakes are good,Baer and Stainlees Stell brakes both make great brake upgrade kits for our cars also. I have the 13 inch Baer track system and love it. Performs great.

Ok, so what's the deal...

I've seen a few pictures lately of the Baer front disc setup, and every one looks like the inner 1/3 of the rotor is untouched by the brake pad. Is there some sort of clearance issue with the spindle/caliper that does not allow the caliper to go farther down on the rotor or allow the use of a larger caliper, or is this how Baer intended it to be? I realize that some of the surface loss is made up by the use of a larger diameter rotor, but it seems rather inefficient to have almost 1/3 of your rotor surface not utilized.

Larger diameter rotor means a greater leverage angle. Pad contact is importaint, but the leverage angle is what attributes to greater overall brake performance. A larger caliper will allow a larger brake pad, allowing more frictional surface aera, but a larger rotor diameter will give you a greater effictive leverage ratio.

This the same on my converted 1LE setup. In order to cover that last bit the caliper would have to be larger, and the anchor bracket that holds it would have to increase in size as well - length wise and sit farther down closer to the center of the spindle. Its probably possible, but there may be interference issues with the spindle as this happens, not to mention more weight.
