Swapping rear end

Just wondering what I should support my car on while I swap the rear end? I didn't really see anything to put the jackstands under. I'm swapping out the rear end, replacing coils and shocks too.

When I did mine I just threw the stands under the LCA mounts on the chasis and blocked the front tires. The car had 120,000 on it and I was surprised at how easily everything unbolted, granted having all the right tools makes a difference, but I did'nt have to heat a single bolt, after I put the new rearend together it only took 1.5hrs start to finish, and that was even converting from drum to disc.

Did you install a proportion valve to switch from drums to discs?

Yes, I got a buddy that parts out 3rd gens so he was nice enough to give one off an IROC that had discs, BUT I've also read many posts on this site that guys are doing it without changing the prop. valve. Most guys complain about rear brakes being worse then when they had drums, and there have been mulitple posts on modifying the exsisting one to perform much better. The kicker with mine was that I was installing a front line lock also and they come with standard flare fittings, our cars have the metric bubble flares and no one in town carried adapters, so I just took and cut the lines coming out of the proporting valve, put on standard nuts and re-double flared them so now if I ever have a brake line prob I can go into any paarts store and get parts on the spot with no need for adapters.

block the front tires, and put the jackstands somewhere around the lca mounts on the chassis.. somewhere solid on the frame..

thats what i did when i removed the rear out of my camaro..

when everything is loose, put the jack under the center of the rear end and use that to roll it out from under the car..
