Will these wheels fit?

I just picked up a set of stock Z28 style 15X7 rims. I plan on using them as a set for drag radials, BFG drag radials sized 275/50/15.

My first question is do the 15X7 rims have a specific front and rear offset configuration like my stock 16X8 IROC rims? There is no stamped part on them like my IROC ones that says whether they are rears.

My second question is will these rims with 275/50/15 rubber on them fit without any rubbing or clearance issues? Has anyone tried such a combo?

I'm moving this to the susp/chassi/drivetrain board since this isn't TPI tech, but i'll answer your questions too.

1- No, the Z28 15x7 wheels didn't have different front/rear offsets
2- Yes a 275/50/15 should fit without any rubbing or clearance issues
3- Kinda yes. I ran 265/50/15s on the back of my 85 Z28 a few years back on 15x7 wheels as an experiment. They fit, but not very well at all. The rims are so narrow that it causes the tread to be rounded so that it's not flat on the pavement, and from the side the tires look goofy because the sideall is so far from vertical. Does not make for a great handling combo, nor is it conducive to good tire life (neither of which probably concerns you for drag race tires though ) It still hooked up pretty well for me though, getting the tire pressure right helps the contact patch somewhat.

I posted about this a while ago and did not get a great response! Thanks for the info Ed. I was thinking of useing them as a "cost effective" drag wheel. Since they are so dirt cheap that is!

Thanks Ed...great answers.

So you think they will hook up right though with 275/50/15? This would be with the pressure drop of course. You kinda got me worried when you mentioned about the tread not sitting fully on the pavement. Since this is strictly for drag racing and not for the street, I'm not concerned about handling or tread life. But I need it to work good with the drag strip though.
