rim fitment questions

i was looking into buying a set of eagle 212 18x8" rims, and i had a few questions. first off, my 85 z28 was lowered cheaply, cutting and torching. i didnt choose this, because the car was bought like that, otherwise id never hack it up like that, but it looks so mean the way it is. i want to know what would be a good backspacing for the rims, as well as a good offset. my options are 0mm offset with a 4 1/2" backspacing, +14mm offset with a 5" backspacing, or 27mm offset with a 5 1/2" backspacing. if i run 225/40/18s on them, will any of these keep me from rubbing? the car is hammered, fenders riding right on top of the stock tires right now. am i gonna have problems any way i go? any suggestions? thanks in advance

Sounds to me like its gonna rub alot. If not just from the ride height, by cutting the springs you usually make the car alot more bouncier so I think it'll rub alot. I recommend you drop the cash on a set of progressive rate springs. I know it wont look as cool (low), but its alot safer. When I ordered my 18's I got 0mm offset with a 4 1/2" backspacing on the front for a 8" wide wheel. So that sounds right. But I had 9.5's in the rear so the offset/backspacing was different in the rear. Since you're staying the same width of the stock wheels, the offset/backspacing should be the same as the stock ones. But when you spend that much $$ its always a good idea to double check. Call Eagle and see what they say. You might have to run adapters in the rear. I remember looking at Eagles once but they wouldnt fit in the rear.
