When I turn my steering wheel all the way left, I hear a huge like bang from the left wheel well. Havent heard it from the right side. I have no idea what it is, but when i actually do turn hard left, it makes a boom. I thought it was the wheel hitting the wheelwell or somethin. Anyone heard this before? Its a 1991 RS. I havent brought it in to have it checked or anything, because I rarely do turn that hard left. But sheesh, what could this be? Any ideas?

Check your frame where the steering box is attached. Sounds like its cracked to me. Your most likely hearing the metal pop in and out. Get it welded back together if this is whats wrong. And get a wonderbar.

Check your transmission mount, it may be shot.

Time to bring the front wheels off the ground and do some snooping around.
With jackstands under the car, have a friend turn the steering wheel lock to lock while you look at everything. Idler arm, tie-rod ends, steering box, etc. Check your wheel bearings, too.

May be a tie rod. Get the front end lubed up at a shop and see if it cures the banging. I have the same problem when turning right.Ill get it fixed when the front end gets a makeover.
