drag radial question...

Ok, I seen a 93+ camaro with 325 50 15 drag radials on the other day. I drooled....
They looked perfect under the car. Didn't hang out a bit

Now if our chassis is basically the same I don't see why they won't fit on my 86 model.
He swears up and down he didn't have to do any cutting but he said some of his friends did to make it easier. But they both had to do alot of beating he said.

Alright here's rim facts... he's got a 15" rim 10" wide, with 7.5" backspacing.
Ok... their rearend sticks out 2" further on each side than our rear ends. There fore we would need 5.5" backspacing with a 10" wide rim.

Has any body done this on a 3rd gen?
Can anybody find something incorrect about what I've said. I want to find out before I start buy expensive tires and rims.

ever notice how the 4th gens can fit 315/35/17 with no problem? I think they have bigger rear wheel wells and more clearance.

I never paid attention to wheels larger than 15" diameter.
Mainly because nobody tries to put larger rims on 3rd gens around here.

thanks though..

can anybody else verify my statements??

well my IROC (like many others) came stock with 16" wheels

firehawks came stock with 17" wheels

but i agree, the 4th gen wheel wells must be bigger, thats a whole lot of tire! but like you said, it could be beat into submission without cutting i bet.

- Just a note - look at actually tire sizes and compare. A 325/50 tire on a 17" wheel is a smaller tire than a 325/50 for a 15" wheel. - Just my experience in comparison to my buddies 17's on his Mudstain(even if it does run 13.0) -

just my $.02 - justin...
