Strut cover-thingy?
Strut cover-thingy?
Does anyone make any aftermarket ones for our cars that dont cost an arm and a leg? i wanna replace mine with new ones becuz of rust on the driverside and i also have to fix a rust spot on the strut tower. but what im takin about is in the picture im postin.
Well you can replace your strut mounts with the OEM pieces if you just want it to look decent again. It wont come polished or anything (they come in black only as far as I know) but it also wont cost an arm and a leg.
okay cool and yea im talkin about the sheet metal parts. were could i get brand new ones from? could i get them from pepboys or anyone like that or is it a dealer piece? i just want to get new ones and fix the one strut tower when i get a mig welder so my engine bay doesnt look like crap.

For the sheet metal peices you wont beable to get them at the dealer or chain stores......your easiest bet would be to cut them out of a donor car...OR......there is a place that does alot of that sheet metal stuff...I think its called Classic Industries...i dont know if they have the strut towers for OUR cars...but I THINK the last time I saw their catalog I saw them.....youll want to talk to someone experienced in this to see how its done.
i think he's just talking about the caster camber plates........which are extremely expensive to replace upwards of well over 500 through gm. if these are the case just remove them and either sand and paint or polish them yourself....
if you truly are talking about the sheet metal itself then your looking into body modification and your body shop will know what to do; i wouldn't recommend you trying anything of that sort.
here are mine that were polished.

well yes...........your removing the only thing that holds the strut in.
you have to have them completely aligned unless you do a mock up of the original placement...even then you'll probably still need to align them.
unless they are rusted through just sand them down and replace the bearings....probably a little under 300 for everything.
if you look for some of my earlier posts you guys will understand why i've been trying so hard to find aftermarket replacements. no joke gm charges way to much for these little inferior pieces.

Not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for but Ground Control sells camber/caster plates for camaro/firebird for $225. And Steve Spohn sells upper strut mount package for $164
