Anyone have to mod their STB to clear TPI?

I was wondering, how many people had to add shims or do some mods to get their STB to clear their TPI? I'm in the market for one REALLY soon and I was wondering how big of a fitment problem I could have. Thanks.

I've installed a Jamex STB on my car and it clears the tpi just fine. It all depends on how you install it and most STBs are adjustable anyhow. I think you'll be alright.

I think that any of the STBs like the Jamex and Edelbrock that use separate end brackets will not have clearance problems. These bars feature slots in the mounting brackets so you can adjust the bar up and down about 1/4 inch. My Edelbrock is in the 'full down' position, and it gives about 1/4"-3/8" clearance.

Most of the 1-piece bars will have to be checked carefully, to make sure they clear. The BMR unit features a clearance plate for extra room.

I shimmed mine to clear the SuperRam, but it cleared the stock TPI just fine.

I had to add 1/2" aluminum spacers to mine. I have the Hotchkis TPI one. It fit fine on my last 91 but then I added an 1/8" spacers because it was rubbing the plenum when I revved the engine. I put the brace on my new 91 and it wont even make contact with the strut towers. The only thing I can think of is the ES motor mounts rasied the engine about 1/2".
