What gives...?

Just replaced the front rotors, pads, and bearings on my '90 IROC ragtop. Parts store gave me the bearings for the cross reference but outer bearings turned out to be wrong size - too big. My calipers are cast iron and not aluminum. I thought after 1988 the calipers were aluminum and prior were all cast. So I'm wondering what year equipment I really have? Also wonder why Z28 bearing would be too big for my spindle when I'm supposed to have a z28? Anyone else run into this kind of issue?

well as for the calipers. mine are iron too. i think only the 1le's had aluminum calipers up front. as for the bearings, maybe he cross referenced the inner bearing and not the outer ones and gave you a set of those. the inners are larger than the outer bearings.

Thanks. I believe what probably happened is the parts book didn't give the with LE or without LE option, but only was it a z28 and translated that as LE - therefore the bigger outer bearings. Too bad all z28s didn't come with the LE option.

When you go to the auto parts store from now on, and they ask you if your car has the performance package, say no. They are refering to the 1LE option. And yes its 1LE not LE. Although you have a Z28 and that is a performance option for these cars, they are refering to the 1LE option.
