widest tires

i'm thinking about getting 16x8 wheels for the front and 16x10 for the back. what is the widest you can get without having them rub or stick out? i'm thinking like 225s for the front and 295s for the back. i'm not woried about understeer or anything because its just for street and drag use once in a while. the 245s just don't hook up enough. it spins all the way through 1st unless you baby it.

its for an 84 z28.

Id recommend a set of drag radials. If youre spinning that much, I doubt any street tire is going to completely solve the problem. Buying drags would also save a little money cause you could use the stock rims.

i agree, your buying tires for the wrong reasons not to mention your altering your widths drastically which isn't good for the street.

i have 295's on the rear and they stick out a little more then i'd like; however i still have to work them more. i wouldn't dare try going larger and not expect them to protrude.

same with the 275's on the front.

how much horsepower do you have at the wheel?
