I have a rattle coming from my front end on my 88 GTA. Usually at lower speeds it's worse. I know my front struts are blown. I just need to replace them. Anyways, the car is aligned, and all the ball joints are good. The brakes are good as well as the discs. Could my front struts be rattling if they are bad? I can feel it in the floor, not the steering wheel. How hard are these things to change if I do it myself? I need to have it aligned afterwards right? Thanks for any info! Matt

Yes. I've even had a new one do that, Monroe warrantied it.

Couldn't say how hard it is. How hard is brain surgery? Kind of hard for most of us, not so hard if you're a brain surgeon. It's alot the same way. But if you have the tools, it's a pretty straightforward job.

Yes, you should have it aligned afterwards; it should be real close, but the bolt holes have a little slop, so it can change slightly.

Yep, mine rattled right before they died... Monroe Sensatracs, with well over 100,000 miles on them. I guess I could get free replacements from their lifetime warranty; they probably didn't figure anyone would own a car for that many miles! I'm redoing all the suspension work myself this summer, and I'll be putting KYB's on, so I don't know what good "free" struts would do me.
