coil springs?

do our cars have coil springs in the front, or do they just have struts. Also how hard is it to install coil springs in the rear and the front if our cars have them? Is is very hard to install struts in the front also?

Struts are a little tricky because they act as our upper control arm. Us f-body guys just have a lower control arm. What this means is that the lower control arm has to be supported when you change out the strut- otherwise the lower control arm can flop down and shoot a dangerous coil spring at your jewels. Most people drop the $30 on the internal coil spring compressor just to keep themselves alive.

The rear is easy to drop the springs on... undo the lower shock bolts, lower the axle, and the springs come out nice and safe.

The 82-92 Haynes Camaro or Firebird manual ($16 at any Pep Boys) is a good intro book, and has pictures of the suspension, and how to change each piece. If you get "hardcore", go for the real GM service manual from http://www.helminc.com ; sometimes you can find them on ebay.com too.
