82 Trans Am upgrades.

Planning a 400ci engine swap into my 82 Ta and need to get some opinions on what to do about the suspension. As far as I can tell its stock and that won't work very well with a 400 in the car. I plan on using it as a street car only, and would like to get the thing to handle half decently. I remeber reading somewhere that the 87 and newer cars have a much better suspension setup. Is this true? and if so can I swap it all over to my car? Currently I have drum brakes in the back, so I'd like to swap to disks, will a later year 3rd gen rear end be able to handle the power that i'll be putting to it? What about a 4th gen rear? Should I just forget the later suspension and buy everything aftermarket? Sorry for so many ?'s, thanks guys

well i would think you need subframe connectors, then as far as a read end goes most likely try to find a 1989 + rear end from a thirdgen. a 10 bolt with disk brakes and posi with 3.23 gears would be a good start, but a built up 9 bolt would be even better..

i guess it depends on what kinda power you are going to make with the 400 engine...

I'd like to get around 400hp.
