the brake light comes on for two general reasons, the parking brake is on, or the switch in the proportioning valve has (or had, may be stuck) lower(or no) pressure on one side than the other, usally a leak in the system some where or air in the system(it could also be an electrical prob in the wiring to the light, but that is an entirlly different situation)
you said you have no brake pressure, what exactly do you mean?
does the pedal go to the floor?
if not, does the car stop/slow down when driving and appling brakes?

The exact same thing happened to me today for thr first time. The pedal would go to the floor, you'd stop but not near as fast as usual. When i got home i noticed a puddle of brake fluid under the front of the car. Any ideas where it was coming from? It was on the drivers side.
