wheel bearings

Is there any special torque setting you need to have when chaning front wheel bearings? My problem is, I changed wheel bearings, not too long ago, had a front end alignment, and now the front tires, on the inner tread is getting chewed up. I thought that maybe it could be to the fact that new inner tie rods were installed, but then I read that if the bearings were going bad, this could cause the problem. But then, during the alignment, shouldn't they have caught that before they aligned it?
Any thoughts on what could be chewing up my inner tread?
Thanks
Bruce
