New to brakes HELP!

I noticed that my brakes squeak and when im almost at a complete stop i hear a small crunching sound. Im pretty sure my pads need to be replaced. So as I am about to go do this I want to know (im car dumb im learnin) does my 86 iroc have disc brakes or drums and how will i go about finding out. extremely noob question i know but i want the best for my poor roc who's seen better days.

Look at the front...those are disc brakes. Shiny metal discs. Now look at the rear. If they look like the front, they are disc brakes. If they are rusted metal things, they are drum brakes.

Get some help

For your safety and the others around you, gets some experienced help with your brakes. From your comments you may not have the knowledge or tools needed to do a brake job correctly, and brakes is not an area where you have many second chances to make mistakes.

Believe me...im car dumb im learnin thru my roc. I'm not gonna do any major work myself especially sumthin important as brakes. prior to me getting my car, i did not know jack **** about or was into cars. therefore im slowly learnin thru my car and thru proper professional/experienced help. so i know what i asked was probably what one of the dumbest questions ever but hey we all gotta start somewhere right?
