Power steering gearbox
I'm building an 89 RS, and using a lot of parts from an 87 IROC (body is really bad, or else I'd keep the IROC). What I'm wondering is if the IROC has a closer ratio gearbox than the RS. It has a lot less miles than the RS, so I'll probably put it in either way, but I was just wondering if it'll be an upgrade. Oh and are the sway bars on the IROC stiffer than the RS? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Not sure about an 89 or 90 but 91 and 92 V-8 RS's that came with the 16" wheels also got the fast box, but I don't think 16" wheels were an option in 89. My car came with the fast box and it turns 2 1/4 turns lock to lock.

The IROC has the fast ratio steering box and the sway bars are thicker and better then the RS. So I would transfer these parts.

the standard box is 2.5 turns lock to lock, the better one is 2.25. the iroc will almost definitely have thicker swaybars but just measure them to be sure
