Clunk under mod-heavy braking

The car makes a clunking noise when I brake moderately or heavily. It makes the clunk when the car comes to a stop so I guess when it 'unloads' whatever stress is being created. Any idea what this would be? The sway bar end links are good, would it be ball joints?

Check and make sure the little "ear" tabs on the brake pads are holding the pads tightly to the caliper. If they are loose they will move around and clunk.
