Brake rattle driving me NUTS
Car is an 88 IROC with 4 wheel disc. The damn brakes are rattling so bad it sounds like my car is a bucket of loose nuts whenever I go over a bump. It's terrible. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

There is a spray can available at napa called "brake quiet". Spray this on the back side of your pads before you install them, being careful not to spray the pad surface.

Make sure you bend the little ear tabs on the pads to hold them snuggly to the calipers.

The rear pads actually have anti-rattle clips that keep them snug in the caliper. They probably came out. This happened to me and the rears rattled like crazy. The clips are still available through GM for a couple of dollars.

Warped rotors can cause the pads to float off the rotors more when pedal is not depressed and will cause more slop and rattle in the pads. Bending the tabs on the pads will work on the outer pad but the inner pad will still wobble around much and cause rattle. Have your rotors turned and generously apply the stop squeak gel tho the back of the pads.
