Would these braces do anything for an F-body?
I was under the hood of my dad's '96 Cadillac the other day, when I noticed a couple of things. First thing I noticed was that GM equpped these cars with a strut tower brace from the factory (why would they do that on an "old people" car but not F-bodies?).
But the other thing that I noticed was a couple of triangular brackets that I had never seen before. Basically, it had a thick, black metal triangle bolted into both of the frontmost corners of the chassis. I have never seen these before on any other car (not that I'm old enough to have seen too many), but I can see what function they can "theoretically" serve. Basically, they appear to serve the same purpose that, say, a 2x4 piece of wood mounted at a 45 degree angle on a wooden gate would do.
Would brackets like these do anything useful on an F-body?
Thanks

Maybe it would give better collision protection to the front of the engine bay (protect the battery maybe?), but aside from that, probably not much. Now, if you did the same thing inside the nose of a Camaro, the stupid flat panels that meet in the center of the nose on top wouldn't flex inward from all the air resistance. That would be nice.

I bought one (Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace for TBI/carb.) but in the rush to get it I didn't check
that it wouldn't fit on cars with the A/C on the driver's side... does any one want to buy it?
$120 takes it!
