anybody hear of taking the spring and plunger out of the proportioning valve to turn it into a distribution block for 4 wheel disc cars? my valve is disc/drum and now i have disc/disc...i don't want to do all the plumbing replacing the valve.with all the thread matching etc. has anyone done this?

I'm upgrading to C4 12" front brakes, and 4th gen rear disks on my 87 and wanted to know the same thng. So for grins I call Baer and they told me that to use their front-rear kit you remove a seal and a spring in the stock proportioning valve, and add an adjustable proportioning valve to the rear brakes. They wouldn't go into details, but yes I have heard of it.
I'm very curious to see if anyone has actually done this and what the results were.

im running that setup useing a disc/disc with the guts removed and an adjustible valve on the rears it fixed my braking problem that my car has had since new(lack of rear brakes) some have had results with out the adjustible valve but my rears had just a little too much grip for my liking.
do a search i'm sure there were some long posts on the prop valve mod

was it tough plumbing the adjustable valve? are the fittings standard? are your front and rear rotors and calipers stock? thanks!....so you think there is a thread somewhere in TG.Org? was the grippy situation dangerous...did it freak you out? or was it just too grippy for you? did you feel the rear lock up?

I would just bite the bullet and hollow out the stocker (if there is a sensor in it, I dont know which third gens had them, maybe none) and then put an adjustable prop valve in. Being able to dial in the rear brakes can have as much as a performance gain as upgrading them as you guys did.

i beleave the fittings were metric.and the hardest thing was re flairing the lines.after gutting the front of thr prop valve the rear brakes would lock first under hard braking so they needed just a slight tweak in pressure to balance the system my car stops better now than it ever has.everything is stock except the pads they are brutestops.the car has 28000 mi so it is still very tight. there is definatly some posts here on the prop valve mod.ill try to dig some up
