Master cylinder & proportioning valve interchange.

Here is what I have, 1 master cylinder and prop. valve from an '86 TA with 4 wheel disks (donor car). 1 master cylinder and prop. valve from an '88 Formula also with 4 wheel disks. From what I've read both the master cylinder and prop. valve should be able to work on either car, right? I ask because both should be rebuilt and one is aluminum and the other is rusted iron.

Also, what would happen if the prop. valve went bad? Thanks in advance.

OK, I know it was a rookie question but a simple yes or no would work. Anyone?
