Clunk, grindy, and some other not so nice...

I'm not entirely sure if this is the place for this, but i have a feeling that it has to do with my suspension and/or steering linkage.

sometimes while I make a left hand turn I get a clunk or sometimes a grinding type noise or a rubbing noise maybe. I find it kind of hard to describe, other than it just doesn't sound right.

It never seems to happen under slow turns, nor higher speed turns mostly the med speed turns, like turning left at a stop light. I thought before that it might be that the nut for the rotor was loose so I went a and tightened that but it's back.

so if anyone can help that is very much appreciated !!!

thanks
Kyle

could be that huge bushing at the top of the strut that holds it in place or it could also be a lower ball joint. Jack the car up and with the tire on try and pull the wheel twards you and away from you if you get play then thats probably it

yeah, i still haven't found the problem with my Z, and it's kind of driving my up the wall, but i've run out of ideas as to what it is.

visually the sway bar end links are intact, the sterring linkage isn't loose, i haven't gotten to testing the ball joint yet, there was a thought that it might be my driveshaft hitting the exhaust pipe but anyway i look at that one it just doesn't make sense as to why it would hit, touch grind etc. I've tightened up the rotor nut, checked out the wheel bearing and they seem fine.

this sound only happens under certain speed left hand corners, it's very very strange. i've also started to notice it under low speed accelleration, it's just this clunk noise.

so yeha, i'm still at a loss as to what this is, so please any help is very much appreciated.

thanks

Kyle

Make sure all your grease fittings are greased I started haveing the same problem (right after I posted to you lol) and it was my ideler arm (I think its called) the arm opposite the power steering unit and it was really low on grease.... Eather that or like I had said earlier its probably the strut mount / plate.

What happens when you go over bumps? Little bumps in the road and speed bumps.

well i try to avoid bumps in the road, and speed bumps i go over slowly, but in terms of noises, i have the usual F-body creaks (i still need to get subframe connectors). every so often when i pull into my driveway (after being parallel to the curb) i get a clunk noise, but like i said not all the time.

i don't know, it's really weird, cause sometimes it's there, and sometimes it isn't. when i expect it to happen it doesn't and when i least expect it, it does. ?????

thanks again !!!
