Biggest wheel tire combo, that doesnt stick out much?

I want to buy some 15 inch wheels but I do not know which backspacing or what width to buy. I want something big but I do not want it sticking out much more than stock. I hear a lot of talk about 5.5 inch backspacking, will that rub at all? I currently have some 275s on my car right now with a 15 by 7 inch rim but I do not know the backspacing and they stick out pretty bad. A 275 is plenty of tire but I dont want it to stick out that much. Could I possibly get like a 15by9 with 5.5 BS with a 275/60? Let me know what combinations I could do that will not make the tire stick out much.

Thanks in advance everyone

I have 15x10 Draglites with 26x11.50x15. They don't rub at all, in fact I have room to go as tall as a 28 tall tire. 5.5 is the backspacing. I have tons of room and they DON'T stick out or rub or look stupid. In fact many people don't realize how wide the tire is.

I've run 15x10 with 275/50r15 with no problems whatsoever. With a 5.5" backspacing they will tuck about 1" inside the wheelwell. Go with 275/60r15 and you'll be rubbing

I am thinking about getting a set of cragger ss from a friend for real cheap but they are huge 15x12 with 13 tire and bare 15x7 in front for $350 and the 2 tires have only 150 miles on them not sure of back spacing but they dont rub. I am not sure what i am doing but they do stick out more then I want but this is a deal!!!

Wheel Vintiques

http://www.wheelvintiques.com/ makes wheels in about any back spacing you want, cheap too, $65.00 each. I got a set of chevy chrome ralleys with the plane police style cap for my TransAm in a 15 inch wheel with a 5 inch back space, 4 inch is stock on 3rd Gen F-bodies. I put 245/60/15's on the rear
(8 inches of tread on ground) and had plenty of room, they are wide and look great. The outside sidewalls sit right where the stock sized tire's sidewall would be with a stock 15X7 rim, and the extra with is thrown toward the inside the car with the extra inch of backspacing. I may try a set of 255/60/15's (9-10 inches of tread) next summer after I burn these off. I think that there may be enough room for them. If you try 255's let me know if they work.
