ABS from caprice
Hey Guys,
I know most of you think abs on a 3rd gen is a bad idea. The rear I already have is setup for abs. So I just want to try to have abs all the way around. A friend got an ealy 90's caprise with 4 way abs, with spindles in the front. The spindles are not a direct bolt on to your cars (they use upper and lower ball joints) but I think I could get the sensors to fit on the 3rd gens. The car is getting trashed after my friend get teh engine from it.
Does anyone know where the abs computer is located in the caprise?
thanks for your help

I've though about this too, just to have something to try and engineer to see if it would be possible.
If you picked up a haynes, you could find out where the ABS computer is. You'd also need to grab the master cylinder from the caprice too. I think the 4th gens have all the ABS hardware located just next to the master cylinder.
But this all depends on where the sensors fit on the brakes. Do they attach at the brake lines? I don't think they attach at the caliper, but I don't know. The sensors monitor pressure in the system at some point.
ANyway...I think it could definately be done. The question now is, why would you want to? ABS are great, but you can stop shorter with non-abs and you can really feel your braking. It would be nice in the rain though. But you can loose control in any car (abs or non) if you don't know how to drive.
