Body Creek...

Lately in my 82 berlinetta, when I stop the car, within a few seconds of turning off the ignition(the longest was about 20 seconds after), I hear a weird creak, almost like rusty hinges being opened. Its not a grinding, more a creaking noise. I think it may be too much stretch on the body, but im not sure. Any suggestions on what it is/how to fix it?

Where is it coming from? Just in front of the left rear tire, perhaps?

I cant be sure, but Id say that in front of the left rear tire is the most likely spot. Have you heard of this before?

can you make the car repeat the sounds by moving it. try to wiggle/bounce the rear. it maybe the rear settleing after a drive. how long has it been since you checked/replaced the panhard/lca bushings or the spring isolators?

No, I've never heard of anything even remotely like that before.

When my car did that, it was the little vent check valve for the gas tank, which is a little plastic thing about 2" diameter hanging off the end of a piece of steel line, right in front of the left rear shock.
