chorme or ploy ????
Hello all,
What is the difference between Chrome Moly Spherical and Polyurethane bushings?? I have a '89 bird with poly bushings installed. I am planing on putting on a wonder bar, torque bar and new sway bars, however the options ask to select between chrome and poly. (Chrome are more expensive, which I bet is better) Can somebody explain this to me.
Thanks
Brad

I took this straight from Spohn's website.
The high quality QA1 spherical rod ends provide for "bind-free" handling performance. The fluted polyurethane bushed ends are mounted onto the chassis (floor) mount to absorb road noise. These combo ended LCAs will still wipe out most bind, yet keep the noise increase minimal for a street driven car.

You are correct in assuming that the chrome moly rod ends are better then the poly. The rod end will allow the suspension to move and rotate bind free. However the ride will become stiffer and noisier. As the rods wear, you'll start to get a clunk clunk rattle sound. The poly will last alot longer, wont rattle, but will bind when cornering hard. The best compromise is the combo which uses a rod end on the axle side and a poly bushing on the frame side.
