popping noise in L/F when braking
popping noise in L/F when braking
hello, i've had this problem since i bought the car (1986 iroc with a 305tpi). when i put on the brakes, i hear a popping noise only in the left front. i'm thinking it may be a loose bolt in the lower control arm? anybody have any idea's or had this problem before? just wondering what to look for. thanks, tom

Pull the caliper off and look for the rubber bushings where the slider bolts go. If they are worn out then the caliper would rattle around.
Also check the tabs on the outer brake pad. You don't have to pull the caliper for this. There are 2 tabs on the top side of the pad that have to get bent down onto the caliper to hold the pad in place. Sometimes they can be pretty hard to bend but a pair of channel lock pliers seem to work well for me... other have had success with that brake pad glue stuff.

Same with me, its those tabd alright. I redid the brakes on my 86 when the pads got low, They had been popping like that for who knows how long. And I noticed the tabs were not down on the old pads. I bent them down on the new ones and no more popping......
