Engine Cradle

I'm look'n into buying an '87 camaro. It's only a 6, but it's cheap. Problem with it is it the guy ran over a manhole cover, bent the engine cradle, oil pan, and tore up most of the exhaust from the collector back.

I can get a used engine cradle from an '83 for about $75. Did they make any changes over the 10 yrs? Should I be concerned about other damage? How hard is it to replace the engine cradle? I'd have to pull the motor, and remove the whole front suspension from the a-arms out, yes?

only a few bolts hold it in, the engine would have to be supported. if i were doing it i'd look over the front end, be a great time for a rebuild and to motor mounts. i ithnk you'd spend more time getting everything out of the way that you would doing the actualyl r&r on it. i don't think there were any changes made to worry about, but don't know for sure.

Does anyone make any aftermarket k-member's for our cars? Besides those little tube k-members. I'm not comfortable with those, they look flimsy. I like the big thick engine cradle GM supplied. I checked Spohn's web page, but they don't list a k-member.

Oh, and would it be ok to Por-15 all my suspension parts (front and back)? I can't think of any place where wear caused by rubbing would break down the por-15, but I want to ask and be sure.
