Ground Control Camber/Caster plate ?'s

What are the 3 bolts on the Ground Control camber/caster plate for ? Is it just to sandwich on the strut top ?

Also, the instructions say I need to CUT OUT 1 inch on the engine compartment strut tower to accommodate the strut - is that really true? Friends had always told me it was easy to install.... cutting an inch of sheet metal out of the strut tower in the engine bay doesn't sound too easy.. plus that area is major reinforced....

Any tips/tricks for this Ground Control camber/caster plate install? I want to race my car at an autocross this Saturday...

Sorry that I cant really help you and what not. But I wanted to ask you a question. Does the ground control camber/caster strut mounts come together? I heard that you had to modify your stock one.

As for cutting out an 1" of the strut mount section...I would think that would probably be true if you wanted to negative out your camber. From waht I understand those kits can give you up to like -7. But I'm guessing if your just gonna make your camber slightly mroe negative you wouldnt atcually have to cut it out.

I've had the Ground Control Caster/Camber adjusters for a couple years. I'm also using their strut tower brace.
The three bolts are used to "sandwich" the plates onto the stock sheetmetal housings. I didn't need to enlarge the holes in the body sheetmetal, (I'm only at about -2 deg camber) but I did need to enlarge the hole in the bottom half of the sheetmetal housings to clear the top of the strut. Otherwise, depending on where it's adjusted, the top of the strut will hammer the edge and possibly destroy the strut. Mine would clear pretty well on one side without the cut, but the other one needed to be opened up about 1/2". If you're running a bunch of negative camber some more trimming may be involved.

Thx for the info everyone.

Revlimit: No it does not come with the strut pieces. If you don't want downtime, get the strut pieces from a junkyard..

You have to grind out the rivets.. pull the strut thingy out (leaving a certain spacer, I dunno, need to refer to instructions)

Sandwich the camber/caster plate, then get it re-spot welded back together... I got extra strut tops so I can get that done in the background.. then swap it all out in my car, little downtime...

Once installed, can the stock plastic caps be snapped back on so everything appears stock?

No, the adjusters sit on top of the old sheetmetal housings.
