will 9 bolt disc fit a ten bolt

curious if the disc setup on a nine bolt will fit a gm 10 bolt. i have a 9 bolt with 2:77 and i want to go to 4:10 so i am going to use my ten bolt but was wondering if the disc brake setup will fit on my ten bolt so i can replace the drums

Yes...you just have to get the mounting brkt's to mount the calipers to the ten bolt axle. Ten bolt and nine bolt brkt's have diffent bolt patterns where they bolt to the axle housing. Auto wrecker or GM.

I thought they also had different hardlines. I've always been told it wouldnt work but I never tried myself.

Oh crap...I misread his post. I thought he was going from a 9 bolt Disc brake housing to a 10 bolt Disc brake housing. Now that I'm awake I see that he wants to put discs on his " DRUM " housing. I don't believe that will work.

Sorry....late at nite.Misread your post

Silly question...but why don't you just buy a set of 4.10 gears for the 9 bolt? Richmond gear sells them. I believe Randy's Ring and Pinion handles them and if you really get stuck...we have a Supplier up here that imports R&p's for 9 bolts from Austrailia. Apparently Holdens in Austrailia use the 9 bolt diff ( Borg Warner ) nad R&P's in all ratios are readily available. Summit or Jeg's must be able to get them. The 9 bolt is actually a better rear end than the 10 bolt. Posi can be shimed and no C-Clips.
