tire profile

on tires there are three numbers ex: 265 75 r15. can anyone tell me what exactly these measurements are of. also how can you determine the tire profile of a tire? on drag slicks, is there a profile? im not sure how this works.

the profile of that tire is 75% of 265mm the second number is the aspect ratio, it's a percentage of the width in mm. drag slicks and most truck tires are in inches instead of mm and the they just measure height and width.

So in english, what Zac said was that if you have a 265/75R15; your tire is 265mm's wide, 19.875mm's from the rim lip to the tread, "R" is the speed rating, and 15 is the wheel size.
