Cracked tires?
Hey guys-
I recently sold a pair of tires on Ebay, and when the guy got them he said that the sidewall on one was cracked, and the tire is totally useless. The tires are yokohama's that had about 50-60 percent tread left. I inspected them really good before I shipped, and I didn't see any crack on them. What is the likelihood that the tire cracked during shipping? The only thing I can think of is maybe the tire had some dryrot and from rough handling it cracked. Any other ideas? I really don't want to loose the money on this, but I can't screw the guy over. That would be sh*tty.
Mods- I'm posting this here because we don't have a wheel/tire forum, and I thought this is the closest we have to it.
Thanks guys,
Matt

I'd say to have him ship them back, then refund his money, then sell them again. Doesn't sound likely that it cracked during shipping unless the tire spent a few weeks in the desert.

Well, I asked him for a pic of the tires so he can prove it (that way I can hopefully avoid refunding his shipping and paying return shipping). I haven't heard back from him yet, so maybe it is a scam. I'll let you know how it turns out.
