LS1 brake swap: Do I really need to swap MC?
I will be swapping my 85 IROC with 4 wheel discs to LS1 brakes. I will put the LS1 brakes on the front and leave the stock discs on the rear.
The stock proportioning valve is gutted and I have a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve in the rear brake line.
With this proportioning valve setup I don't think I need the 1LE proportioning valve for my swap. Since I'm leaving the rear brakes stock I'm wondering if I can also run my existing master cylinder instead of swapping it for the 1LE or disc/drum MC.
What do you guys think?
Is it worth trying the existing MC to see how it works with the LS1 brakes or is it necessary to replace it?

IMO, I'd swap it out anyway, but there's no harm in trying how it works with your stock one. As you mentioned, I wouldn't mess with the prop valve. Let us know how it goes. If it doesn't suit you, swap it out. I got mine used for $25 and my brakes work great (1LE car).
